Oceanfront Oasis is a three-story coastal shingle-style residence on Kiawah Island, composed around broad Atlantic views, layered verandas, and a direct relationship to the sea.
Oceanfront Oasis stands tall against the Atlantic, offering a confident reinterpretation of the coastal shingle style. Drawing from the great seaside cottages of the American shore, the house translates that tradition at a generous scale while developing a character distinctly its own.
Cedar-shingled walls rise three stories from a brick base beneath a slate roof. The composition gathers into a swept, flared tower gable, where bracketed outriggers and stacked round oculus windows create a signature architectural profile. Across the ocean-facing elevation, columned verandas stack two and three stories high — a formal interpretation of the traditional coastal porch, raised to meet the horizon.
The reinterpretation continues through the details: arched mahogany doors, recurring oculus windows, a brick outdoor shower, and a circular gas fire set into the brick arrival court. Together, these elements give the home a sense of continuity, allowing the same architectural language to carry from the approach to the oceanfront.
Inside, a two-story arched stair hall establishes a dramatic vertical axis. Formal rooms feature coffered ceilings, marble fireplaces, and crisp white paneling, while warmer, more individual spaces bring contrast and depth. A barrel-vaulted wine room with a brick ceiling, walnut butler's passage, and paneled study frame the home's more intimate character — including a study oriented toward the sea.
A white kitchen with a butcher-block island and sea-glass tile keeps the palette light and coastal. Ocean-view suites, marble baths, and a dedicated bunk room extend that atmosphere upward through the house, combining relaxed seaside living with carefully crafted architectural detail.
On the water side, the house steps down toward an infinity pool and a glowing blue glass-tile spa. The layered terraces and verandas create multiple places to gather, pause, and take in the horizon.
Rooted in the shingle-style tradition and composed specifically for its oceanfront site, Oceanfront Oasis reinterprets the seaside cottage as a larger, more vertical coastal home — one designed to face the sea from every level.
